When you have littles, sometimes the only date nights you get are at home. And honestly as long as it’s intentional time together, than there’s nothing wrong with that! While I love a good Netflix show, there is so much more out there when it comes to date nights. That’s why I’ve put together 15 of our favorite at home date night ideas, to hopefully make date night that much better for you and your significant other!
But before we dive into these date ideas…who is Sid anyway?

15 At Home Date Night Ideas For After The Kids Go To Bed:
- Bob Ross Paint Night
This one is seriously so fun! It’s not super expensive, and it’s a good way to get creative with your partner. All you need to do is go on YouTube, choose a video, grab your supplies, and have fun! Make sure to watch the beginning of the video if you want to grab the same exact colors that are used in the video. Here’s a set of supplies on Amazon that has everything you need to get started!
- A Movie Night
No, I’m not talking about a regular weeknight Netflix binge. I’m talking about a full-blown sleepover style movie night. Grab your mattress and bring it into the living room, make popcorn, get your favorite candy/snacks, and watch a movie that you haven’t seen. Bonus–no phones aloud.
- Game Night
Grab a board game or a card game, put your phones away, and start playing! Here’s some games that we love. Note–If you or your significant other are competitive, do not pick a game that requires a lot of strategy or you might not talk to each other the whole time. Just speaking from experience!
Some of our favorites:
- Make Dinner Together
After the babies go to bed, spend some time in the kitchen together making a meal. A fun idea would be making a meal that reminds you of a special moment for the both of you. Remake a meal from your wedding or honeymoon or remake a favorite meal from a restaurant.
- Bake Together
Can’t wait until after the kids go to bed to make dinner/eat? No problem. Bake something. In fact, make it interesting (if you’re feeling competitive) and turn it into a Bake Off situation.
- Do A Puzzle
This is perfect for a quiet night together. It leaves a lot of opportunity for good conversation, and a way to take your mind off of the day-to-day.

- Create a Charcuterie or Appetizer Board and Make A Bucket List
Go to your local grocery store (or in my case Instacart–get $10 off Instacart here) and grab some of your favorite frozen appetizers (I’m talking to you mozzarella sticks!) or some fancy meats/cheeses/fruits/whatever you want for a charcuterie board with some wine or fancy sparkling water, and make a bucket list of things you want to do together. You can even categorize, 5 year bucket list, 10 year, so on.
I found the cutest Charcuterie Board cookbook that you can grab here!
- DIY Spa + Massage Night
Who doesn’t love a good face mask and massage? Not good at giving/don’t want to actually do the work it takes to give a massage? No problem. We recently got this massage gun, and it has been AMAZING. I haven’t been able to take full advantage of it yet due to being pregnant, but I’ve used it on my feet and legs after a long day of chasing around my toddler and it’s amazing.
Here’s a really great dead sea mud face mask!
Here’s our massage gun:
- Have A Theme Night
Choose a decade or a movie, and dress up like some of the characters. Go all out with food, outfits, and activities!
Here’s A Couple Of Theme Date Nights From Amazon:
- Channel Your Inner Child and Build A Fort
Do I really need to explain this one? Take all of the blankets/pillows off the couch or bed and make a fort. Order this cool projector and watch a movie in the fort.
- Do A Couples Yoga/Workout
We have yet to do this one, but post baby I would love to try this out with Kyle! This is totally free, just look up couples workouts on YouTube!
- Plan Your Dream Destination Vacation and Start A Vacation Jar For Funds
Calling all Pinterest addicts…this one’s for you. Choose a destination, and plan everything. I’m talking about restaurants, activities, where you are staying, etc. Create a vision board or Pinterest board with everything, price it all out, and create a vacation jar to put all of your spare change in to save towards the vacation.
- Order Takeout From a Fancy (Or Not Fancy) Restaurant and Dress Up
Obviously this one is going to cost some money, but sometimes not having to cook is the perfect way to actually enjoy an evening together. Order from your favorite restaurant, dress up, set your table with those cloth napkins you never use, light those candles, and enjoy a meal together.
- Play a *Spicy* Bedroom Game
Yeah, you know the kind I’m talking about! Now I’m not talking anything super weird (I mean unless you’re into that), but when your life is all about the kids, it can be really fun to spend some intimate time together playing a game. Need some ideas? I love this list from The Dating Divas.
15. Have A Dance Party/Learn a Dance Together
Head over to Youtube and learn a new dance together (two-stepping, anyone?!) or put on your wedding playlist starting with your first dance song. Dancing is such a fun way to let loose, and also connect with your spouse. Light the candles, dim the lights, and have fun!
